According to history, tattoos have been around, even during the ancient times. Evidences that are found, confirmed that the Egyptians back then practiced the art of tattooing. Primitive tribes that are still around today are getting tattoos for the sake of their tribal rituals.

Excision method is often used if the tattoos are small. In this method the area is anesthetized, once it takes effect, the tattoo will then be cut away or excised. After excision, the edges of the incision will then be brought together and stitched up. If the surgeon uses this method for large tattoos, there will be a need for skin graft.

The dermabrasion procedure is done by spraying a solution over the area that will make it freeze. Once it freezes, the area will then be sanded off using some rotary abrasive tool that will make it possibly peel. Once finished, a dressing will be placed on the area to prevent bleeding.

Of all the different methods of tattoo removal, laser is considered as one of the best method, and this according to most of the doctors. Before the laser procedure, a specific cream will be applied over the area to make the skin numb, and then, afterwards, the rays of laser light will be applied to make the pigment breaks up. The process of healing is the one that will break the pigment up. This procedure takes several sessions before you can have your tattoo removed.

The oldest method used for tattoo removal is the salabrasion. In this method, anesthetic is used to make area numb. After this, a solution, made out of water and table salt is applied over the area. An abrasive tool, just like the one used in dermabrasion is then used. At times a plain block of wood covered in gauze is also used to abrade the area. Once the area becomes red, it is time to place a dressing in the area.
